What Are The Little IT Elves Doing ‘Behind the Scenes’?
Most of our clients have their computers on our full NetWatch360 program. Many have asked “What does all that include?” or “What happens in the background?” With a few requested exceptions, this is the standard process.
Anti-Virus
Your computers have Bitdefender ‘AV Defender’ Anti-Virus. Bitdefender has been one of the top Anti-Virus solutions on the market for years. We run two types of scans on your computers. The first scan is done every day at noon. This will take 3-7 minutes to run in the background. A second more in-depth scan is done three times a week. This scan usually takes 30 minutes and is run in the evenings when the device is inactive since the comprehensive nature of the scan may slow down older computer models. Your anti-virus also receives updates from the AV Defender server throughout the day. When a new virus is discovered, AV Defender “remembers’ the new threat and updates the software on all its machines. My AV Defender has already received 6 updates today. If something is ever found on your machine, AV Defender will try and take care of it on its own. If it’s a file type that removing could potentially cause issues, it will notify us, and we will manually resolve the issue.
Patching
Your computer software is continually patched, all Microsoft software as well as 3rd party software, such as Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, Firefox, Java etc. This keeps you safe and protected. Our technicians review all vendor released patches and approve the ones needed for your computers. The patches download to your local computer at the end of the workday, then install around midnight.
Preventive Notifications
We provide general hardware monitoring. If your computer runs low on hard drive space or your average memory or CPU usage starts peaking, it will be noted. Then at the beginning of each month these issues will be visible on your monthly NetWatch360 report.
IT Planning and Review Meetings
We meet with you on a recurring basis to review and plan regarding your technology. We keep you updated on new technology and what is available to aid your organization. We discuss any weak spots, changes, or upgrades that are needed. We also solicit feedback on how we are doing and how we can improve for you. We want you to always have peace of mind!
